Edit Save Raw's for Specific Material for Uniforms
« on: February 29, 2012, 01:25:14 pm »

The default uniforms are cool.  Sometimes I wish I could create a new uniform and specify handwear, or headwear, but I can't.  They only come with the default Leather Armor, Metal Armor, Archer supplied Uniforms.  What I would like to do is create a uniform where I can specify\

Leather Headwear
Metal Leggings,

etc.

Another thing I noticed is I can't specify a new Material type for Headwear from Leather, or Leggings.  I have to create a new (more specific item, such as Greaves) and then specify Material.

It would be nice if I could go into a Saved Raw, and copy a uniform, and then specify a new material from Leather Headwear to say Metal Headwear.

Any ideas?

Uniforms aren't defined in the raw files.

So custom uniforms are not saved in any text files that I can change from my save folder then?

Uhh, you can make and change uniforms.  In fact I delete the default uniforms in almost every fort I start.

On the military screen hit N then c to start a blank uniform.

The problem is that there's some things in the default uniforms that can't be replicated in custom uniforms. For instance, the "Metal Armor" uniform allows any form of metal torso armor, while a custom uniform has to specify a particular type of armor. I'm pretty sure the ability to allow any form of armor to cover a particular body part is what's wanted.

"I'm pretty sure the ability to allow any form of armor to cover a particular body part is what's wanted."

bingo.  I would love to have for example:

Leather Headwear
Metal Shield/Buckler

type combo's.  Although that specific uniform may not be desired, it gets the idea across.
