Tropical Regions and Freezing

So I've noticed that you can find temperate tropical areas on the map however after running a sample area until winter it did not freeze. Does anyone know if you can find areas that include both tropical biomes and freezing water at some point in the year?

I had such an imbark with 34.03. Dropped it because of FPS issues. If a river on the map freezes coming from the intake side, the rest will slowly drain and eating away your cpu-cycles.
