Looks like duped raws or modding, if you have any mods, I suggest you try to reinstall them. Or reinstall DF altogether. Unless of course, the mod adds a gremlin race, in which case it's working as intended.

Now would be a good time to check errorlog.txt - there's probably a warning about a duplicate creature object.

Interesting - I also encountered this while playing the Masterwork DF mod (1.4) but assumed it was part of the mod.

It resulted in a dozen or so gremlins appearing at the edge of cavern layer 1 who then shot a forgotten beast to death with ranged weapons... scared to go down there now.

I am using no mods and have not been attacked.  Some goblins came to trade.

Like I said, check errorlog.txt - there's probably an error in your raws somewhere, possibly from attempting to install a tileset from an older version.

I don't see a change in the entity_default.txt. It is either on your computer or Toady did something to the newer version that I haven't bothered to download.

Yes, looks like an error caused by installing Ironhand.  I am in no hurry to fix it though.
