The child lives!  Appears to have slipped under my view for some time.  Has acquired a broken left shoulder, presumed vulture attack, and is in a persistent state of starving and dehydrated.  Presumably, the other 90 idle dwarves are waiting for the parent to pick up the job, so they only do it half-assed and give him table scraps.

Err...  At the exact moment of typing this the child starved to death.  Starved, did not dehydrate.  That takes a concentrated effort of torture.

These dwarves are beginning to terrify me.  By the time this fortress is matured, this biome will have become evil.

Ya... Watching infants starve to death almost killed the game for me first time around:p my own infant was crawling onto my lap at the time :p

+1 to the tally that Dwarfs are the antagonists of the DF world.

On the plus (plus) side, I'm sure many of your dwarves are that much closer to being emotionally dead inside after watching that child starve to death.
