Maybe at C+ Death Penalty it could be changed to a gladiator arena, where felons fight to the death for the amusement of the masses. It'd be a nice change from just being executed on the spot every time. C+ animal rights could be a cockfighting/bear-baiting arena.

This could be quite funny. Rich conservatives watching poor liberal gladiators fight to the death.
Or maybe the gladiators could revolt, and go on a suicidal conservative-killing spree.

One thing I like about the suggestion in this current thread is how detailed klingon's idea is, and how it includes interesting choices throughout.

- You have to pay a moderate entry fee to get in, and it's only refunded if you win the match.
- It's once a week, so you're encouraged to find other things to do besides just this every day; this should be an occasional special thing on the side.
- You can visit on other days to train skills for a small fee.
- If you visit on a day when there's no fight, information about the next fight is given.
- If you win, you get to choose between money and making a speech, and the rewards either way are better for tougher opponents.

It's a quite well-developed idea and I would very much like to see something along these lines implemented. I think it would be a fun addition to the game.

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.

I don't think so, but I'd have to check the code to be sure. Toady's impressive about sneaking in twiddly details like that.

Every month ends on the 30th, too. Even February. :'(

I don't know where you're getting that from. I just checked the code, and it does support leap years.
