maybe they should only check for the best weapon whenever they go on duty?
When you make better weapons they would eventually upgrade since soldiers dont stay on duty constantly anyhow.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

Uh...yeah. Because I totally want all my dwarves to be using shitty weapons and not upgrading.
Um... yeah. Because you totally want all your dwarves to run around uselessly when gobos rape fort.

And about main bug itself... I think they should seek new weapon only in some circumstances. For example, when switching form civ to mil or off duty/on duty or squad orders, he will seek one weapon exactly once.

My only problem with the military going for better equipment is that two or more dwarves sometimes go for the same weapon and causing a general pain in the ass. Then again I tend to make more weapons than i need and melt the lower quality ones so it doesnt make much of a difference.

OT though I havent noticed too many bugs in the newest version. Then again ive been playing mostly AM, though like the rest of you im still pissed that after all these months dwarves still refuse to wear clothes which seems the most simple of things. Its easily fixed by assigning them all to military though even if it takes a while and this way you can give them all armor as well

If adamantine is perfectly rigid, as shown by having 0 strain at fracture in the raw files, then the speed of sound in the metal approaches the speed of light. Adamantine musical instruments would produce ultrasonic vibrations, and cut off the fingers of the musician.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this:
My dogs wont' train to become war or hunter dogs. I just get the message 'Urist McTrainer cancels Train War Animal: No creature'
I've replaced the creature_domestic text file twice and it still doesn't work.

If they're already adopted by someone, they won't train. I had a migrant show up with a stray dog, and even though it wasn't named, it couldn't be trained. Just wait for puppies :) Once they've grown, war dogs for everyone with an outdoor job!

I had these dogs on embark. I'll try generating a new world and see if that helps.
