I've played a few adventurers since the 2012 release and have not found a market yet. I used to be able to find them based on the color of town (gold for markets, using Phoebus' graphics) but the graphics and towns all look different now. What should I be looking for?

You're looking for any town. Just about every town will have a market. (Towns look like Floor Grates with the Phoebus pack.)

As for seeing the market on the map....I've almost always found them very close to the entrance to the fortress, but there's no icon to show you them on the town view map. I *think* they do show on the right panel as "nearby buildings."

But you'll know you've found a market when your screen fills with tons and tons of vendor spam.

Cool. Maybe the problem is that I haven't found any towns yet. These seem to be hamlets. Thank you very much.

in vanilla, shopping streets have white streets on the T map while hamlets had yellow roads

Is it just me, or are towns slightly bugged? ALL I have ever seen being sold are food, bone, and clothing products, with everything else being abandoned shops. It looks like that as soon as any temporary shortage in a material happens, that industry dies. Am I just genning for too long? (250 years)

This has been mentioned on the bugtracker and I've posted a question in the Future of the Fortress thread to try and bring it to Toady's attention.

EDIT: This is assuming you're after weapons and armor.
