Disarming
« on: February 23, 2012, 07:23:15 am »

I know. Stupid noob question.

How the fuck do I disarm prisoners!?
The whole dumping thing doesn't work for me no matter what. GOing through stock and unforbidding them doesn't work. HOW DO I DISARM THEM.

notes
1. They are meant to be practice targets. No magma allowed.
2. Drowning takes to long to get at them (Too lazy to set up pumps)
3. SOldiers dying because goblin lasher somehow retained his weapons is beginning to really piss me off.

Pardon my foul language but I'm annyoed becasue ALL of my good soldiers keep dying because of dwarven stpuidity or armed prisoners while the unskilled meatwall lives, compounding the problem.

build the cage somehwere, then d-b-d it and d-b-c it. They should come in droves to claim troll fur socks and what have you.

How To:
- Have the cage(s) transported to an animal stockpile.
- Mass claim all forbidden items in the cages (d,b,c)
- Mass dump all items in the cages (d,b,d)
- Look (k) at the cages themselves (not contents) and un-dump them (d)

Troubleshooting:
- Make sure you have a garbage zone for dumping things in.
- If your stockpile is outside, make sure dwarves can pick up outdoor refuse (order menu/refuse)

1. Build cages
2. d-b-d and highlight the cages
3. (t)/(k)/stock screen and undump all the cages.
5. Wait
6. ???

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.

So wait, this still works? I used to be able to do this in older versions, but more recently nothing happens.

*Empirical experimentation*

Okay, they removed at least a few pieces of armor; caps and shields. I don't know if they still have their weapons and other stuff.

never forget to heed this advice
when it's items outdoors, no matter how small
remember remember to forbid them all.

it's hard to tell.  It happens slowly.  Sometimes it actually helps to leave their armor on too....  this allows your military to get more strikes in and more experience.  To not take off their armor, you have to go into the stocks menu and un-dump every piece of armor you don't want them to dump.  I think the D color is different if it is equipped by an enemy.
