Zombies vs Werebeasts
« on: February 23, 2012, 12:36:01 am »

Just saw a few things from the update that I haven't noticed on the forums yet, figured I'd put this out there. Apologies if this is something in another thread that I missed.

I have a sealed off fortress in an evil biome, and naturally zombies have been slowly recruiting traders and goblins up on the surface. Recently an elf weredeer showed up and started fighting, but was killed after it reverted to elf form and tried to run away. The corpse reanimated, and then transformed back into a weredeer, and proceeded to attack the regular zombies.

1. Reanimated werebeasts are still werebeasts, and in werebeast form they don't get along with regular zombies (Not sure if the transformed version is really undead, but the name still says "_ corpse")

A bit later I got the message "Nonshutdumur, Ricote Amiyaeceri's right upper armRicote Amiyaeceri's corpse has transformed into a weredeer!" That is, a disembodied arm from a former elf trader (I'm assuming that's an elf's name) contracted weredeer-ism. Taking a look at it in its current form, it is an ENTIRE weredeer. Not a disembodied weredeer right upper arm, a weredeer. When killed (or after transformation back) it becomes a regular old disembodied elf arm.

2. Reanimated body parts can contract lycanthropy (deercanthropy?), and become a full body during transformation

I figure the next step is to cut off limbs of transformed weredeer, and see what happens with that. Here's hoping they reanimate, contract weredeer-ism, and transform into a full weredeer themselves

Can anyone confirm any of this, or has my mind collapsed into the dorfs?

Yes, these been reported, but it's good you got it all in one piece.
Werezombizm can indeed be used for undead cloning.

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

We can't even get a lid on these abominations and we are already trying to purposely clone more of them?

This insanity pleases me.
