Fortifications and Fluids

Seeing as fortifications are essentially slits for ranged weapons, do they allow the passage of fluids, like water and magma?  I wouldn't want to make some as a guard against floodgate-destroying magma monsters only to find out that my marksdwarves have a fiery death coming at them through the window.

Yup, magma and water pass straight through fortifications.

On the bright side, this is actually incredibly useful for defending yourself from liquid-dwellers.  Creatures that swim in water and magma *cannot* fit through fortifications.  Also, fortifications of any material will not melt in magma for some reason.

Got ice? Make fortifications from them. Provides an interesting strusture when facing magma.

But be warned, magma effects anyting not (b)uild (C)onstruction.

I HOPE I have the case of those letters right.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

Except, of course, when they can
