Noob question: Coin stacks
« on: February 21, 2012, 05:03:02 pm »

So i have a problem, all my coins aren't stacked properly, for some reason i have 2 stacks of 5 gold coins and one stack of 2000 copper coins, among other stacks.

And yes they are all from the same civ.

But how do i make it easy to manage my money?

You wait several years for Toady to implement the code for combining stacks.

You used to be able to make change at merchants. I don't know if that's the still the case with the new way trading items works.

Best way to manage money overall is to turn your coins in for valuable (and less bulky) trinkets. Look for finely crafted gold statues of forgotten beasts that menace with spikes of platinum.

Not that you really need cash after certain point, but it's still fun to carry swag bag worth many tens of thousands of dwarfbucks.

Gems have a pretty good value/weight ratio iirc. Might have been changed with the new gem mechanics though.

Just thougth i would store my money somewhere now that i raided the keep and sold most of all they had in there, so that a later adventurer could come get it.

That's what I've been doing. I just designated an abandoned shop "the adventurer's guild" where I store all my excess equipment and money. Thinking about embarking a fortress right next to the town so I can build a proper keep for all my swag.
