That's... awesome... a five year old vampire... wonder how that happened... Hey - can vampires lie about their appearance, if they choose a young enough age? Might your vampire be hundreds of years old? lol

I prefer my dwarf who, as soon as he got bitten (as a child), became 133,058,835 years old.

were-warthog. Every full moon he goes on a rampage and...gores people? I guess? I feel like he should probably spend his time in the river, to be honest.

Are you using Therapist?  An issue currently exists where you can assign children labors by default, because the "child" profession is marked as "Presser" and lets you give them jobs.

If you play without Therapist, then regular DF won't allow you to assign them labors.

That would explain my children metal smiths... thank you.

Easy "fix" might be to check any migrants on Therapist that have "recovering wounded" disabled, as this is a default job but children do not have it.  Mouse-over their name, and it should show their profession as a Presser or a Beekeper.  Nickname them "Meatshield".  This way when you're looking over your labor, and you see some dwarves who aren't being used, you can realize that they're a Meatshield and overlook them.

You can also change the announcement options to pause and zoom when a dwarf matures to an adult, so that when a child reaches age 12 you can snap to them, and use the good old fashioned v-z-c-n method to rename them inside of DF.  Once they're renamed, it'll be easy to find them on Therapist, and you can work from there.

You play masterwork mod ? Children are supposed to grow up earlier, since no one wants to wait 12 years ;) A features, no bug.

It is, of course, worth noting if they are actually children or not.  When you see them in the forge, are they a little red child icon, or a little greenish peasant?  If you have a 7 year old adult then things are working as intended for Masterworks.  If you have a 7 year child then it's a Dwarf Therapist issue.
