Since some of the water is going to run off the edge of the map to create flow, will the flow remain if you fill the chamber back up to 7/7?

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

A very well-written article, well done!  I actually discovered this myself too.  Took one look at the article on aquifers where it said "water can flow into and out of an aquifer breach" and tried digging down into one from above.  One screw pump later when nothing initially happened and I had a constant power source.

Mechanically powered lasers, would be my preference.

Actually my preference would be towards Minecraft style pistons.  Imagine the carnage a single mechanic could wreak with the ability to move tile contents at the flip of a lever.

What's wrong with using magma? That's almost always the easiest method.
I have issues channeling it properly to do that method. I end up flooding the fortress with magma.
