Moving Stones and trap question
« on: November 07, 2007, 04:36:00 pm »

Hi there... 'smee again.. more dumb questions!

I just made my first try to build a trade post. but unfortunately.. the whole place is covered in stone. I already have a stockpile full of stone.... around 60 or so.... with a few bins between them.

Oh well can is just let my dwarfs _move_ items from point a to point b? or even from point a to... whatever point they want.

Also... is there somewere a tutorial how to link something to something?
example a lever to a stone trap or something?

oh and... i recently ordered a mason workshop. and even though it only say's "needs masonry" and i freed my mason from every other task than mason the building still won't be consructed. wuts ze prublem?

and even more: how can i "provoke" migrants?
I have my seven dwarfs and i would like some more.
And how long does it generaly take before the first migrants appear (remember its my first "real" fortress... I abandoned 4 before... they were some kind of experiments)

Linking levers/pressure plates to objects are jobs you assign to the levers as if they were workshops. Stonefall/weapon/cage traps are all self-contained and don't need to be hooked up to other triggers though.

There is practically always a migration every spring after the first, unless your dwarf caravan from the previous year got killed. Carving out more space underground and generating more total value attracts more migrants. If the dwarf caravan is really impressed by your fortress's size and net wealth, you might get a smaller migration in late fall/early winter too.

Typically the big spring migration has 15-25 dwarves and the fall migrations are about 6-10.
