Something where the GM/OP gives the basic structure/foundation: setting, age, rank, position, time, max number or how many players are allowed...

And then leaves it to the players to make up!

Like..."You are a Lord"!

I've only seen that recently, amazing.

Or any game where the GM gives a setting of fluff and the players pop in and form their own reality, must be familiar to the general knowledge of people and the GM jumps in to straighten some derailment of plot.

So, having read this thread, I've decided to put up a Hard SciFi Adventure Game with semi-roguelike gameplay and a focus on rebuilding society after the end. Sorta like Caves of Qud, except with harder science and no magic mutant powers.

Hard sci-fi is incredibly difficult to do ...Thing is that not many people want to create new races, creatures, or different kinds of ships (flying cities included), which is really the bread and butter of most sci-fi. This is definitely something I want to see someone attempt though.
No, that's soft scifi. Hard scifi rarely have spaceships and when it does they are ludicrously expensive and take years to get anywhere.

The existence of jelly does not make lead hard, I want tungsten.

Hard sci-fi might include a single technology that shortens travel time.

'Cause, sci-fi that takes a couple centuries to get to Alpha Centauri isn't much fun at all.

Of course, who says sci-fi needs space travel? :3

That's the lead hard scifi. It's still SOMEWHAT hard, it's enjoyable and harder than most things and there's nothing wrong with it, but it's not what I mean when say HARD scifi.
