City Mass Murder..
« on: February 18, 2012, 10:25:28 pm »

Okay so I recently downloaded the new version Dwarf Fortress and i decided i wanted to try Adventure Mode first to check out my world first hand. I generated the world and went into it with my adventurer, who was just a normal swordsman peasant, then i headed for the city to get work. The first place i went to in the city was the castle. I entered the yard and saw fighting, a guy stabbing someone in the hard but it was dodged. So i walked cautiously along not knowing what to find. I entered the castle and people were in there happily living undisturbed by the unknown fighting happening somewhere. So i spoke with the people there and left to travel, i exited and saw the fighting again object the reports. I then went to the south tower to snoop around. But this is what i got. At the bottom of the stairs a dead civilian. I went up and up to the you....then i saw it..roughly 20 bodies dead, blood everywhere and a few fishermen and clothiers beating everyone to death on the walk way. I ran To attack the attackers except being a peasant (plus being crap at DF) i died due to a bolt to the head....I went into legends and saw that the Dwarf who killed me stopped being a member of *insert society name here* (i forgot the name of it) and just started killing..Can anyone explain why? Or has this happened to someone else? I just dobt know what to make of it!? :/

He obviously tired of tolerating the pathetic humans who are friends with the pansy elves, and decided to sacrifice them all in the name of Armok.

If you look around the fourms you'll see alot of reports of strange city murders, civil wars and pesants invading Nerco towers. Its quite awesome.

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Yea, one time I started as an axe-using demi-god. I entered the nearest house of the town I embarked on and as I entered, I saw a kobold miner fighting a fisherman and a farmer. I thought that was fairly odd but I helped them anyway. After severing the kobolds head those little human punks started attacking  ME. A child that was on scene sliced my left ankle tendon sending me to the ground. Still, After severing their heads, I left the house(not being able to fast travel I had to crawl my way out of the town as I was hostile now). As I left the building Kobolds and humans were EVERYWHERE. While they fought each other, I tried to sneakily crawl away. To my dismay, one of the denizens fighting the kobolds was a crossbowman who spotted me. He sent one bolt that pierced my neck sending blood dripping down my body. As I finally crawled away from that town, I ended up bleeding to death from that arrow to my neck

When it comes to civil war it's best just to Not Get Involved.

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.

No, you should pick the winning side and be hopelessly incompetent. That way you're cool with both sides.
