The travels of Conner Whipstirs.
« on: February 18, 2012, 10:56:25 pm »

9th of Malachite, 250

I am a scholar. I read, study, and translate. I'd never done anything different. It is safe, calm, and I enjoy it. However, I can no longer do this.

The Monarchy has begun to shut down all studies that may go against them or their beliefs. I have begun to be pestered by guards and agents attempting to influence what I publish. I have gathered some of my belongings and enough food and water to last me a day or two. I also stole an iron two-handed sword and a copper shield from the combat arts training wing of the academy.

I will be recording my travels in this journal. If I shall die, I wish for my writings to be published for all to see.

I had never spent much time studying geography, so I had little knowledge of the surrounding area outside of nearby towns. I decided to stop at a home, where I met Uja Eslobenid, a gem cutter. He told me of a being known as "Busla Hairferried the Lone Drink of Conflagrations". He spoke of it only being harmed by steel, and that other materials may not affect it as much. He also said that it assumes a beastly form in order to terrorize their town, and it has killed three in its lust for bloodshed.

I assume most of this is just superstition and paranoia, but I have read and heard talk of strange beasts that reside in the wilderness. I will have to be cautious in this task.

The lair of this person - or beast - is almost a days travel to the north-east of the town.

10th Malachite, 250

After spending the night in a home about a half hour or so north of the lair of this "Busla Hairferried", I set off to face my first adventure. While I am afraid, I am also excited; I have never experienced the world outside of the city walls. The sounds of wild animals and the smell of clean air. It's exhilarating.

I discover the lair of Busla. I am making this last entry before I enter his lair. I hope I come out alive.

There is nothing more after this point.

Thank you everyone for the help! I've since flooded the fortress I was working on and now have a new one going up.

Yes it does. I though I was going to kill that hobo, but he got a lucky kick on my head after punching me in the gut and caved my skull in.

through an iron helmet.

I know iron isn't the absolute best armor, but how the hell does a hobo kick in a person's head through the medeval equivalent to anti-fragmentation armor?

Well, I'm going to make a new thread and try again. That was just pitiful. I'll use the same backstory though because I'm lazy and don't feel like writing a new one.

It seems adventuerers have a stupidly higher mortality rate now. Luck has a little too much of an influence if you ask me. How the hell do you doge a full frontal spear thrust at arms length? You honestly shouldn't be able to.
