Portable loot?

After looting the catacombs under a keep (and killing a vampire who I only assume is one due to the trinkets), I find myself with around 100 assorted gems and a gold coffer. Is there any easy way to get all the gems in the coffer?

Storing them in a gold box in a lair was cooler... Thats pretty much it :)

Why store them? I think a gold coffer full of gems would be an exceptionally cool improvised weapon. Fill it with severed heads, and it gets even better.
