Biblical swarm of giant mosquitos!

I got that after starting a new embark. They showed up about one month in and more just keep showing up. I also have clouds that turn anything they touch in to dead thralls. I got my dwarfs dug 1 z-level down in the sand. They got everything they need food wise but I only have about 10 pieces of wood. I am digging down right now for rock so I can build normal things like doors. I just thought people should see this.

Everyone's getting those FPS-killing swarms. All we can do is make them airdrown.

If you remove their FLIER tag, they might not be AS fps murdering...

Well a large group of them are now zombies and are quickly killing the others off. So that helps.

I had a huge swarm too, didnt hurt my FPS much though, a Mist came through and killed them all eventually

This is definately a new feature, just needs to be toned down a bit.

Giant Mosquitoes just ripped my hunter's both arms... now hes living a pointless life trying to figure out a way to store his owned items. lol
Also, just shoot them as target practice.

How big are they exactly? And how can the ecosystem survive such a massive onslaught of blood thirsty insects?  :o
