Hardware Question
« on: February 16, 2012, 01:34:01 am »

(I think this goes here)

I recently learned that it is possible to change the affinity of a process on a computer. This means it will run on the cores you choose. I also found this program that lets me fiddle with processes better than the task manager like mass changing properties and setting defaults.

My question is will giving the DF process its own affinity increase the framerate I get or does DF already do this itself somehow (like choosing the core with the least activity or something)?

Your operating system will do some kind of detection like you mentioned invisibly by default, but there is some benefit to setting DF to its own processor and everything else currently running to the other one(s).

There are threads about this with numbers but I can't recall them off the top of my head. Maybe 1-6 fps, around there.

Ok, so 1-6 fps probably isn't really worth changing all the settings. Thanks.
