Finding a vampire

I haven't played adv mode much, and I know only the basics of getting around. But, my question is...how to find a vampire in town?
I got a quest to kill one, I have the name and I'm on the spot where the quest leads me, a place with several abandoned shops...but no one by that name is present in the area. A secret identity (?), but how to tell who's a vampire?

Mine's apparently just in the outskirts, but I can't find any cave openings.


Would waiting until night be too risky? I have fond memories of being dismembered by coked up Boogeymen.

Edit: Found some a house with a creepy sounding guy living there. He says I should search the keep to the south east. Also, that he speaks for his master. Gulp. I feel like I'm being set up, and I love it :D

Double edit; D'oh. This is what I get for not coming here in months. :'( Forgetting how everything works and in my excitment getting confused

Another edit: Found the keep on the outskirts of a huge, cool city! It's.... empty. Where is everyone?

Continuing edits I'll stop soon I promise; I found everyone...

Final Edit: The vampire was the warlord, who crushed me with two blows of his mace. Dang.

I'm getting a similar problem.  I keep being told to go find a spearman in "a house to the north" but when I get there there is no house anywhere close.  ???
