I got around 57-67 when it started, I ran it until the digging was completed and near the end it was starting to stabilize around 70. 



I have also discovered that my normal settings rely very heavily on my graphics card, when I pulled the card to see if I still had the problems without the card, I was getting 7 fps on the menu screen.  Hopefully I can finally catch the weird freezing issue in my system and post a more reliable test.  (Before someone points out the obvious, I actually overclocked to try to fix my stability issue, and trust me I know how strange that sounds)  I am going to copy the init settings in this file to see if I can get DF to run normally without my graphics card.

For giggles I ran this on my tablet:

22-30 FPS, spent most of its time at ~27
Dropped down to 16 once for a couple seconds.
Much better than I anticipated really.  I tried to make a few tweaks to boost performance, but nothing changed from increasing the priority, restricting the core usage, or switching the computer's power settings.  That's just how fast it runs, no matter what /shrug.

My computer is this little monster, which overall I am happy with, except for the fact I should have sprung for the 64GB SSD version, as Windows 7 is absolutely gigantic and doesn't leave me with as much space as I would like. 

I wanted a tablet for school, which meant it would need to be something I could write notes on, as well as compile code on, and really (at the time at least) this was the only reasonable option that would meet my needs. 

My advice for anyone considering a windows-based tablet is to wait for Windows 8 later this year, as the touch support there is (supposed to be) vastly improved.

It looks like DF doesn't make my processor use the max of its Turbocache (2,9 GHZ)....there is a way to force it?

Well, I did some crude data analysis:



I used the benchmark values from this website and divided the values by the number of cores (since passmark analyzes performance using multiple threads).  A few of the values were guesses, since people were sometimes vague on their CPU model number. 

I haven't input the information on cache size yet, but I suspect that might be a major factor, along with potentially the ram clock speed as well. 

I think we can all agree from the above plot that DF FPS correlates well with standardized benchmarking software (at least for this particular test), but remember, correlation does not imply causation.   Moreover it might just be that people with newer computers also have faster ram, and that's the positive slope we see (I don't think that's necessarily the case, but it is something to keep in mind).

The cache would be a major contributor to performance if there are many memory references to arrays or same value many times as that is how caching works.

I got an average of 32.5 FPS with my i3 M370 @2.40GHz.
