Hello there!
If you've read or heard about the Liar Game manga/anime series, you'll likely already know what it is I'm suggesting.
In case you don't, this is to test the waters for a new forum game that I may run soon. Unlike many of the games here, this is not a suggestion adventure, nor is it cooperative.
No, it's in fact highly competitive - if you like winning and seeing others lose, this is likely your thing. It's a game in which very little is certain about other players and the GM presence is minimal, and encourages the formation of self-governed allliances and agreements as well as treachery and social engineering. You'll be trying to both befriend and deceive, attempting to gain power while at the same time trying to hide it from others.
The premise is simple, and you can consider it a contest of sorts - in short, you will be given a certain sum of money at the beginning of the game, and it is your task to wheedle as much as you can off of the other players. Make trade or service agreements, pose as a conned player needing a loan to stave off elimination, anything goes. Those who fail to make their quota, and thus end up in too high a debt, will suffer... Consequences. The winner, then, will be the one with the most money and thus the best conman. Each game, so to speak, may take about two to three weeks depending.
Additionally, drawing another parallel to the series, it is likely that a parallel but linked game/competiton of investors and patrons or observers/experimenters of some sort will be created not only to serve as the manipulators (akin to the Office in-series) but also to provide room for those less socially inclined but equally devious.
So! What do you think? Would you be interested in playing this? Might you even be excited about it? If you are, please reply here with your say-so - I'd want to know if it'd even be worthwhile to do this, and I assume this would be the best course of action.
Alternatively, if you have the very notion of such a game and think it's awful and terribly boring, feel free to reply with that too so I'll know to keep silent from now on.
