At Last, a Named Weapon!
« on: January 31, 2012, 01:38:54 am »

After many a month of DF play, I finally have it! My very first named weapon!

Spoiler: Anir Nanir (click to show/hide)

As much as I would love to create a thread solely for gloating about my own achievements, there's something that I find slightly perplexing...

Lokum, the owner of the steel axe, is a relatively new soldier compared to some of the fortress veterans. He came with the king, so couldn't have been around more than 1-3 years, and though his kill count is admirable, it is far from the highest in the fort. Because they were already legendary upon arrival, I have their squad train year round, as opposed to the alternating half year schedule the other squads have. But surely 1-3 years of year round training cannot add up to more than 10+ years of half year training. Makes me think randomness may play a bigger part in the naming process than I thought...

Anyway, just making sure this exceptional landmark in my Dwarf Fortress history is immortalized within the confines of this forum.

I had a one dwarf squad that had the biggest badarse ever. After a while of tearing Bronze Colossi to pieces with a candy short sword like tissue paper, he named it "Something The risky Virginity"

I like that its name means "Sister of Rhyming" and its name is indeed a rhyme.

Not only that, but he is Lokum Archfocus the Mortified Insight of Bearing Anir Nanir.  I guess he's quite a bit embarrassed to be the one wielding the named weapon?

I find it very fitting that "Anir Nanir" means "The Sister of Rhymes"!

Congrats

Especially for getting a good named weapon, my first named weapon was a copper crossbow that had been used to bludgeon a forgotten beast to death as well as a few dozen goblins.

Lokum
This is where i started snickering madly, because it is the Danish word for "loo". So for all i know, you have a legendary toilet in your fort that bestowed an awesome name upon an axe. This really can't get much better. :'D (also Archfocus takes on a new hilarious meaning in that context)
