Minor oddity involving movement in adventure mode
« on: August 15, 2007, 08:13:00 pm »

Seems if you hold down 7, 8, and 9, you move quite a bit faster northwards than you would if you just held down 8.  Can be duplicated for any direction (just hold down the direction key you want to move as well as the keys on either side [e.g.: southeast = 3, 2, and 4]).

I really fail to see how this would be a bug. You're pressing three keys at the same time and the game register three direction change... Why would it not go faster?

<, >, 7 and 3 are a good combination to train ambushing. In an empty map at night it's about 20 steps per second.

Yeah, it's just reporting more keypresses, but in game terms you are moving the same speed.  In the next version, in game terms, you'll be moving slower since diagonally moves are more expensive, although you still seem to move faster.  You might be able to mess with the hold ms setting in the init to change this behavior, but it'll have ramifications throughout the program.

Thanks, that information is good to know.  :)  That ms setting could stand to be a little lower, though probably not that much so things don't go crazy fast all over.  :p

Sometimes the numb pad speed trick results in stuck movement where you cant stop at all... not even on the start screen until you restart the program.  At least for me anyhow.

Yeah, that happens to me as well. I found that using Alt+Tab or the Windows key (and possibly also pressing the button that was stuck and fooling with numlock) helped me.  Can't exactly remember what I all did, though.
