The Luddite Challenge (lock please)
« on: January 23, 2012, 02:17:30 pm »

Came up with this concept in my Philosophy of Technology class. I'd like to know if it's viable, if it's already been done, or if it needs some improvements.

The Luddite Challenge

Your dwarves have been exiled from the Mountainhome for their extreme stance against advanced technology.

Your dwarves may not create*, import, or use mechanisms, or anything that requires mechanisms. By extension, this means no traps, no traction benches, no controlled floodgates, no pumps, no screw press, no Dwarven Atom Smasher, etc.

* up to you to decide what to do if a mechanic gets a mood.

Variation 1: Also ban siege engines and crossbows.

Compute this!
a + b =c
(3a-2a) + (3b-2b) = (3c-2c)
3a - 2a + 3b - 2b = 3c - 2c
3a + 3b -3c = 2a + 2b - 2c
3(a + b -c) = 2(a + b - c)
3 = 2

Compute this!
a + b =c
(3a-2a) + (3b-2b) = (3c-2c)
3a - 2a + 3b - 2b = 3c - 2c
3a + 3b -3c = 2a + 2b - 2c
3(a + b -c) = 2(a + b - c)
3 = 2
Division by 0 means this is invalid. :P
