Maybe I don't convey myself well, despite all the words, because it appears you think I'm saying something very much unlike what you're also suggesting.  (Apart from the initial re-introduction bit, because that's already happened...)

Perhaps I misread you, you pushed a few of my buttons and I may have been unduly caustic.  Anyway, let's just stick back to the topic.  I should have just mentioned that I think making jokes about the situation to this injured person could be tactless at best and sadistic at worst, unless such is clearly invited and welcomed.  Everyone's different so it's hard to tell.  I know that in difficult times a small number of friends made jibes intended to cheer that were not well received.

@Robocorn, I sympathize for your friend and for your worry.  Hopefully sooner than later you'll learn more news, and what his doctors had to say about the case, it might help ease your mind to get some more answers.

His memories may be gone, but his personality should be intact. Tried just talking about what you did, or being the friend you were before?

I've had concussion once myself, and the time immediately afterwards I mostly had blank thoughts (well, thoughts is generous), so I don't think you could do any harm ;)
