Better ranged traps?
« on: February 23, 2012, 10:09:30 pm »

Is it possible to mod ranged weapon traps (crossbow, bow, blowpipe) that attack tiles a few spaces away from them and are triggered by pressure plate?

No.  That would require modifying the actual game code.

maybe in the army arc we may be able to link ballistae to levers or pressure plates, though you would still need a siege operator to reload them.

That's not a bad suggestion.  If I could link ballistae to pressure plates I might actually bother with them.  That and if they could fire across z-levels like crossbows.

All things in due time though.

I just worked on traps yesterday, and I could only do very little for new ideas. If you are interested, take a look at this: Mod thread about traps

I also have a reaction that makes siege operators blind. They still shoot as good/bad as always, but do not flee. This way you can have a siegeengine directly behind fortifications with enemies up front.

Nothing else I can think of though...
