Hunters and Rangers won't sleep in their rooms.

Every ranger or hunter immigrant I get never sleeps in his/her room! They always sleep outside or on the ground in the fort. I have friends that has this same problem as well. I've had this problem on 33b and 33a.

Ever think that they might be too far outside to get all the way to their rooms before they collapse?

Check your squad options. You probably set it for them to sleep on the ground by accident.

They are not in the military and they sleep some times right outside their room. And I recruited them and changed their settings and changed them back, same problem.
