Characters for noobs, like me!
« on: October 04, 2011, 05:30:39 pm »

Hello everyone I have been playing LCS for a few months, off and on. I know what to do but, I can never put the pecies of a good crime squad together.

I have figured out that my founder never fits the style I want to play.

So if I am ask, what are some good starting founders that could support a good Squad?

More spicily for;

A founder who could outrun deathsquads easily

A founder with highest persuasion and charismatic

A Suductive founder

And a founder that fits your playing style.

Thank you!

If you haven't, check out the relevant wiki page for an in-depth breakdown that will let you roll up your own optimized builds.

For outrunning death squads, I would just select A - the Polish priest Popieluszko was kidnapped by government agents. for the first question and D - surviving alone, just like anyone. But we can't go on like this. for the last question. This gives +3 health and +4 agility, which should set you up fine for footchases. You'll also have first aid, which is great for not getting killed in the field.

If you're using cars, make sure to recruit a really good driver for the chases -- try recruiting a motorcyclist or truck driver, for example. And steal a sports car. Your founder can only start with 2 points of driving max, which isn't quite where you want to be for life and death situations, and the Beetle you can get for picking the answer about a car is probably slower than most pursuers.

My recommendation for both a pure seduction build and a pure persuasion/charisma build, in one founder, is:
E - the Sandanista Front won the elections in Nicaragua. (+2 CHA)
E - my father lectured me endlessly, trying to make me think like him. (+1 CHA, +1 Psychology)
E - I was the class clown. I even had some friends. (+1 CHA, +1 Persuasion)
D - my parents divorced. Mom slept with the divorce lawyer. (+1 Seduction)
B - I played guitar in a grunge band. We sucked, but so did life. (+2 CHA, +2 Music)
D - when I was sent to religious counseling, just stressing me out more. (+1 Religion, +1 Psychology)
E - I was resorting to controlling people. Had my own clique of outcasts. (+1 CHA, +2 Persuasion)
D - I let people pay me for sex. I needed the money to survive. (+1 CHA, +2 Seduction)
D - I went to party and met a cool law student. We've been dating ever since. (Start with a Lawyer recruited as a sleeper love slave.)
E - writing my manifesto and refining my image. I'm ready to lead. (+2 CHA, +2 INT, +1 Writing, +1 Law, +2 Persuasion, +50 Juice, $50, Industrial Tenement Safe House)

You can have very minor variations to prefer one or the other build, but this threads the needle and does both with little loss. This will have you set up with 12 charisma, 4 persuasion, and 3 seduction. You can pick the "homosexuality" choice instead of "controlling people" if you want +1 seduction in exchange for less charisma and persuasion. you can also change the question that starts you with a law student sleeper if you don't want to use up a seduction "slot" on a lawyer sleeper, though lawyer sleepers are amazing, so I still suggest keeping it.

My personal playing style involves a mix of combat and stealth, so I would pick a lot of A and B choices, trying to optimize agility, strength, and health. I'd make sure to pick up both stealth and security along the way, and I'd dip into E for the "swords" questions, since swords are really cool in LCS.

I take anything Stealth related and have my founder start robbing Apartments. They can single-handedly bankroll 10, 12 members easily. It's a little high risk at first but you can usually slip out as long as you don't get greedy. With the rent paid and a cache of weapons and cars, you're basically set to form whatever kind of squad you want. It's best to train thieves proteges as time goes on, so your founder doesn't have to continually stick their neck out to keep the coffers full.

Make a ninja build.

Alternate options A, then B, then A, until you reach the point where your character becomes interested in swords.  Do not go for b after that, just A.  This will get you decent stealth, lockpicking, etc.  Feel free to change some of the minor choices to suit your own playing style, but the gist is that, after killing numerous Conservatives and training your sword, stealth, and doge skill, you will become the ultimate assassin and mass murderer.

Great for solo runs.  Seriously, with max sword, high dodge and stealth ( and very, very high Juice ), you can take on an agent ( who has a very powerful gun ) with nothing but your sword and the all important ninja suit.  As long as you can get the first shot in, however, don't protract the fight, he will kill you if he gets a chance to shoot you.

So, anyway, it's amazing for solo fights, and if you're outnumbered, you'd always be able to sneak away.

I found a high char/int/heart character best because I like to datenap people and convert them with my leader. You can get quite a large group of people going quickly and safely with this method. Not to mention potentially unlimited of those sleeper lawyers and judges previously mentioned. Only problem is using the leader for conversions means everyone is linked to him.

If I were you, I would go for EBBBCAADED. Not only it makes a powerful character, but it's also a quite interesting life story (on my opinion, at least).

I prioritize skills that can't be safely trained, and skills that are hard to obtain. So, start with one point of Security, but no more--the first point lets me train by unlocking apartment doors.

Incidentally, with the skills capped at 20, it's less useful to start with a stat above 10. Starting with a 10 is good enough because at Elite Liberal it'll be a 20 and that's the cap for skills. More isn't all that useful.

Actually, stat caps have been removed in the latest version, for exactly the reason you mentioned.

Now arise, my Mutant Army!  Bwah ha ha!

I am new to the game too, I started with a crazy samurai, but got killed all the time by stupid yokels with shotguns.

Now I prefer persuasive characters who just travel around the tofu bars, recruit crowds of hippies who break all kinds of laws. It's quite funny, and what's important, you can always recruit more.

In conspiracies and secret societies - never risk the leader in operations!

The entire content consists of senseless murder, a pile of faceless naked women and zero regard for human life in general, all in the service of the protagonist's base impulses. It is clearly a cry for help from a neglected, self absorbed and disempowered juvenile badly in need of affectionate guidance. What a sad, sad display.

For reasons you just mentioned, the current version gives bonuses to the leader's survivability.  More importantly, those bonuses apply to anyone that is leading the LCS, even if they are replacing the original founder.

So by taking your leader out of the fight, you are depriving yourself of your finest Elite Liberal Warrior.

Therefore, I would suggest using your leader, but always having a liberal directly under your leader with 100+ juice, so they can take over when your leader inevitably dies.

And most importantly: Boost dodge before engaging Conservatives in combat!  Bullets hurt, man!
