A38 problem with a dwarf

I have A38 so I can use dwarf companion, so in the beginning of the fort, a dwarf falls off a bridge. Its only a one z-level fall so no big deal I figure, he's still marked as alive. As time goes on I find him, lying in the same place about a year(In game) later, with a blue background. I don't think much of it. So, I finish building my "Red room" around year 4-5, pile everyone inside and pull the lever. Everyone is dead. However, the fort keeps going. I look around for a few minutes and there is that one dwarf in the same spot. I check DC and there he is, alive, max happiness, no status ailments, perfectly fine, but staying in the same place. Any idea what happened?

You can use DC with .38c, you know...

If he has a blue background, he is flying. Still falling I guess. Using DC froze him in place possibly?
I think you can fix it with DC. 'resume process' or something like that.
If not.. Uhmm.. Uhmmm... Transform a carp into a harpy and teleport it next to him. See if he can still die while frozen in time.

EDIT: If you don't have carps on your map, first transform an elephant into a carp.

I would, but I already killed everyone in the fortress. Including him, I had to use DC for him.

I had no animals on my map at all, so no flying harpies anyways. I went to reclaim and all I got was seven dwarves... I had four artifacts and HUGE rooms, and all its worth is seven dwarves. They will die for their arrogance!
