Skype runs my mic very low. But only when I have a certain TV plugged on. Any way to reason why?

I've been using Skype for over 4 years and I still can't figure out why it does half the stuff it does.

You probably want to poke around in your Windows Control Panel Sound settings. I know there's settings (not in Skype) for reducing other system volumes when you start a Skype call. I've not heard of the problem happening the other way around.

My guess would be that your TV is taking over the default audio channels, or something, when it's plugged in. So I'd go to your Control Panel Settings when your TV is plugged in to see what Sound Devices your PC is pointed at. Because Skype is likely looking at the same sound devices during that time.

You might want to uncheck "automatically adjust my microphone settings" in the Skype Audio options too.

Alternatively, you can go to your mic settings in Windows Control Panel and boost the shit out of it....but that's going to murder people once you go back to PC sound.

My experience with Skype is that the less you let it manage your audio settings, and the more you force it to accept Windows' system audio settings, the fewer problems you have.
