Converting tiles back to undiscovered rock?
« on: January 05, 2012, 02:15:31 am »

I've made some mistakes planning my fortress, and was wondering if there's a way to "undo" my digging and revert the tiles back to just black space?

Nope. Short of walling the area off, abandoning and reclaiming.
Or savescumming if you have an earlier save.

DFHacks has a tool called "revflood" which would do what you want. It completely blacks out the map, then reveals everything reachable from the cursors position, so walling of unwanted regions would work

DFHack also has a "tiletypes" tool which can be used to actually change empty space back into unmined stone, but it's tricky to use.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
