Armor Use
« on: January 09, 2012, 01:18:29 am »

I know I used to be able to do this more effectively, but I can't quite seem to remember what I did, so I'm hoping you guys have better memory than me.

How exactly can I wear chain shirts and platemail at the same time, and all the other things we used to do in 40d. Is that gone, or am I just doing it in the wrong order?

Remove your shirt/robe/whatever upper body clothing you have, then put on the mail shirt, then put on the breastplate. I think.

Oh, maybe that is the problem. Not wanting to be a dirty hippy, I left my shirt on.

The Chinese used to wear silk shirts underneath their armor because the silk would stop arrows from penetrating (very far).  European knights wore linen shirts underneath their armor to prevent chafing and to keep burning hot metal from their skin when out in the sun.  DF seriously stops you from doing this?

No. It doesn't. It just forces you to put on clothes in a logical fashion, otherwise, this.
(Urist, why are you wearing socks over your boots?)

This. You can put on three pairs of mail shirts and a breastplate if you put the mail shirts on first :P
