New to suggestion games and seeking advice
« on: January 06, 2012, 02:40:14 pm »

I started a suggestion game (link in sig), but I'm not sure exactly how I should go about pacing the updates. Right now I think the updates are too long and restricting, but I don't want to shorten the updates drastically. This is mainly because there is a fair amount of game system to introduce still.

There is also the problem of combat. I have no idea how to handle that at all.

This is a learning experience for me, and I don't really want to let the game die out just because I don't know what I'm doing.

Personally, I think you should do like I'm doing and have done for a long time: try a bunch of different things to see which ones work for you and which doesn't. My main forum game is next to nothing like how it originally started, for example.

Obligatory K.I.S.S. statement.

(Keep it simple, stupid.)

I appreciate the comments, and I think that my game isn't going to die right away anymore. I think the CYOA style works well enough for me, but I'll be sure to branch out if it stops working.

I'll lock the thread now. Thanks everyone.
