Thank you all, truely. My mom, sucker for a bargain, has purchased the X box because it was marked as "on sale."

Ah the old tricks are still the best. Ask for twice the price and sell for half off. :)

Is the Homebrew channel worth it?
If you crack your Wii, the Homebrew channel can do anything. I can go on bay12 using Opera on it now. I can make copies of my games and play those discs so the originals don't get lost or scratched on trips.

It's pretty neat.

I hear that just homebrew isn't enough for that, though, and that you can't use the backups from dvd in the latest wii versions anyhow.

True, you have to go to one of the older versions and then make sure you never update. Basically all the updates did was stop you from doing that, but it's not illegal.

I'm not concerned with the legality of it as much as with the viability of it, given that I got the console last week.
