It should be noted that the upcoming version already has resurrections.  They'll only be used for mummies in the vanilla game, but you'll be able to mod a targeted rescurrection in addition to (or even replacing?) the targeted reanimation used by necromancers.

Suppose I have a necromancer companion. If I die, could he reanimate me? Would I still have control?

Also, can creatures be truly resurrected rather than zombified (retaining original soul and/or with a non-decaying body), or resurrected but with an interaction applied? (and if so, do they retain their previous entity allegiance, or change to that of their resurrector?)

A reanimated body doesn't have the same historical information (or a soul/skills).  A resurrection (which exists, for use by mummy disturbance currently) does bring the soul back.  I haven't tried adding in a targeted resurrection to test your scenario, so it would be bad to commit on an answer, but my first guess is that since it is the overall historical figure that carries the "I was a player adventurer" flag, you'd be able to select your adventurer from the retirement list if they were resurrected right after you die -- it would have to be very good timing though.  And even then I'm not sure, since they'd have to make it back to a site and become situated properly there to be recognized by the adventurer selector.  It's the sort of thing that should eventually work properly though, and also which might tie into both the afterlife stuff as well.  If your adventurer goes straight to afterlife mode when you die, with you still in control, loaded in a small slice next to the still-active battle field, you might find yourself fluctuating back and forth (another reason for corpses not to drop items).  For now, you'd have to hope the retirement mechanic gets activated correctly.

So what's stopping necromancers from having either/both abilities? Besides the current lack of code/plans, I mean..

Some necromancers could be old school death-diviners. Some could be zombie lords. Some could be able to resurrect the dead. Some could have multiple powers, or variations on them.

You wouldn't rush Goya or Faulkner or Tarantino. Think about Toady as equal to those artists. And then deal with it.

What about the comical situation of a necromancer constantly ressurecting a necromancer, and vice versa?

I'm fine with necromancer-ey types of people doing that kind of stuff, but neither want it to be part of the "default" necromancer "package," nor do I think that such people should all be lumped together. At least different kinds of necromancer (animator necromancer, revivalist necromancer, spirit-speaker necromancer...)

Yeah. Thanks Footkerchief. I'm all for flavor. I just wouldn't want to have a snack that you can gobble down in one swoop. It should be like a fine desert. Something that finishes the meal but requires you to actually pay attention. Not something repetitive that you can just gobble down.

I think Necromancers should be all powerful lords of the death.

There should be different flavors, human, still mortal necromancers that are actually just witches and wizards knowing of some rituals to (re/de)animate inanimate/formerly animate objects.
While grand lich lords would have given up mortality to ultimately control the powers of life and death, sending bolts of death where they wish, animating things as large as bronze collosusses.
They would have grand underground necropolises flooded with servants and huge structures wich keeps them alife.

Adventurers should be able to rise that way.

What if necromancer power was related to what they discovered in legends mode?

Some ressurect corpses into zombies... Others into zombies with menacing spikes everywhere...
