I don't know what this error code means, (Inflate error: -3) but it happens every time I try to save the game once the.. 3rd? winter starts. I can play through it, several seasons even, but if I try to save it anytime past the 3rd autumn, this error comes up. is there a way to fix it?

Ive also been getting that error. But it does seem to occasionally allow me to load my save game regardless. Trying to load my save has 3 possible outcomes:

1: Inflate Error -3
2: Loads fine
3: Restarts my computer.

I really dislike it when no. 3 happens >_<

Your computer is spontaneously rebooting? Maybe your processor is overheating because your computer is full of dust. That happened to me recently.

"Inflate error" means that one of your save files has become corrupted, destroying the universe.  All there is to do when we're still working out all these alpha kinks is to backup "data\save" frequently.  Sorry about this.

I've been getting the inflate -3 error in adventure mode.  I've deleted my saves and started over generating a new world or downloading one but the save gets corrupted again.
Generally it happens like this:
- Start new adventure
- save
- load
- save
- load (-3 error)

Yeah... my problem was that i was ctrl-alt-del-ing and shutting down the process... then trying to re-load that save... which i assumed was unchanged, but actually was.

Much better to back up your save folder occasionally, and roll back every time the game messes up.

I have tried backing up my saves but it doesn't help. I think the latest version is creating corrupted saves.  
It's easy for me to reproduce: from a clean install start a new adventure then repeat save/load until it fails.

I'm going to try using an older version, because I just want to play.

Toady: One of the best ways ive found to trigger an inflate -3 is to save while a human caravan is unloading. This is at least one wagon at the depot and at least one not at the depot.

I haven't had a save become corrupted in dwarf mode, but often in adventure mode. I've tried to find ways around getting corrupt saves, and have only come up with retiring the character in a friendly town (in adventure mode), back up data/save and restart adventure mode with the retired character (last option among human : play now dwarf elf). The only difference is you lose the unfogged map from retirement.

I've found one source of this in town.  For now, if you quit whenever you save in adventure mode, before you load again, it should be okay, with this one issue.  I'll check for other such issues now.
