Fluid flow off walls to floors
« on: February 10, 2012, 08:48:35 pm »

Problem:

Blood and whatnot is never cleaned off walls unless there is something on the floor that requires cleaning.

Solution1: Make stains on walls drip to floors, where dwarves will then clean them.

Solution2: Allow us to designate cleaning areas where aggressive cleaning will take place in much the same way as engraving.

This is of course only if the obvious solution of just cleaning the walls directly is something that would require code gymnastics.

(Don't attempt to answer that.  Down that path lies ... well I was going to say madness but you all run towards madness as if it was made from chocolate and puppies.  Just forget I said anything.)

Are the wall contaminants on the wall, or on a specific side of a wall?

IE: if an inconsiderate elf drips blood into your aqueduct, and the walls become bloody, can that contaminant be cleaned off the wall from the outside without having to drain the aqueduct?

When you have to clean the floor to get the walls scrubbed, that automatically ensures you're cleaning from the same side as (at least one of) the source(s) of the contaminant.

Contaminants aren't ON the wall, they are ON the tile.
