Can you remember what year you embarked? If so, the current date is shown in the top right corner of the [z] stocks menu.

You could also check in legends, but that would take longer...

The combat reports go all the way back to the beginning even if the exact actions aren't available, so if you had any combat within the first couple of years that should give you a clue. Scenes of the founding of your fortress can be engraved or made into object decorations, and in a world without much history you'll see that a lot.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

My combat report goes back to 297. It is now 305.

Strange, I thought I started in 196.

You're world gen probably stopped in 195. Which would mean that you embarked on the first day of 196.

Probably just didn't get any combat reports until the second year.

Or engrave some stuff, and you'll probably get something along the lines of:
This engraving relates to the founding of [fortress name] in the Year __ by [your civ name]

Came into this topic to say that I was going to say that.

Every year I have a 10x10 square engraved to act as a calendar of sorts.
