Hey everybody,

I really want to play LCS, however I cannot get past this screen:



I've tried on various versions, I've tried naming myself and not naming myself. And no matter what I do, I cannot get past this.

Is there anything I can do?

I am an illiterate boob when it comes to it, but are you using Command Prompt?
I believe LCS runs from that, if you don't have it, get it on you.

No, you don't need a command prompt or DOSbox or anything. The executable works for me.

OP, what kind of system are you using? Is data from the keyboard getting to your computer properly? I wonder if it's a Windows 7 thing; I'm not sure, but sometimes you have to run programs as administrator in order to get them to work.

I have Vista, and running as an administrator.

The weird part is that I can press enter to get through the entire character creation process by pressing enter/any button, I just can't get passed that, no matter what button I press.

Windows options for customizing borders. Right click desktop, personalize, window color and appearance.

I guess I am doomed to never play LCS. I simply can't figure it out, hopefully someone else knows what's up?

I wish I could help, but I don't know what might be causing this. For what it's worth, I can play on Windows 7 just fine.

I've run it on my Vista laptop with no issues, works fine on Win 7 as well.

Maybe try getting the dev version with the source code in it, instead of the normal version.

Check your task manager, close down unnecessary tasks, then try again. Also check to see if your antivirus software is accidentally blocking it.

Does the program lock up or does it simply not accept your keystroke for your Enter key or your character name? If so, maybe your keyboard settings are weird and the program can't read keyboard input?

I've done everything Callista suggested.

It accepts me typing in a name, it just won't do anything when I press enter/any other key to move beyond the name selection. I can choose my history and such easily and quickly, just for some reason it just WONT let me progress.

Did you try the dev version too?

Quartz, are you using Genesis? that might work.

Maybe Toady's old version would work for you. That would give you a taste of LCS is.
