Transferring cages to depot releases whatever was inside
« on: September 04, 2006, 03:44:00 pm »

As subject says.  This is, even if by design, a problem because in NO OTHER CASE does simply moving the cage have such a result, so there is no possible reason to expect it in this case too.

Well, maybe not.  First time I tried it, every single cage I moved released its contents.  I just tried again with the dwarven caravan, this time all the prisoners made it to the depot, no problems.

How is this supposed to work?

The critters should stay in the cages.  If there are particular cases where it doesn't work it would be good to know exactly when it is happening.

I had a animal stockpile outside near the depot where all my caged hostiles were.  The human caravan with wagons had arrived at the depot alredy.  The cages contained various goblin thieves, a goblin master thief who happened to be the ruler of the goblin faction, an ogre, a harpy, some ratmen, maybe a few other types.  I went into the depot with 'g', set all the cages to be moved to the depot for trading.  That's when the hostiles started escaping and running around - as each cage was moved.

The human guards got most of them, except for the goblin ruler - he escaped off the edge of the map.  (He actually tried to sneak in a second time later on, got caught again, and this time was very carefully executed.)
