Is this normal?
« on: November 30, 2011, 03:21:38 pm »

I'm relatively new at exploring Legends mode, and I'm not too familiar with elvish culture to know whether or not this is standard.

To be fair, he is an elf...

It's a known bug. The princess and queen positions are supposed to be filled by female elves only, but apparently, the game can elevate any creature of the abstract civ population into the positions.

Not that we let facts get into the way of elf-bashing.

It's always the male elf princesses who get laughed at, but when there's a male dwarf queen(who most likely shows up wearing the most blinged up dress as well) no one says a word.

Being an elf in DF is suffering.

Here's the reason: the dwarven male queen has an entourage of steel-clad, waist-high, axe-toting berserkers at her command. The elven male princess has fifty poofs who shoot toothpicks at you.

The [GENDER:x] and [CREATURE_CLASS:y] position tokens are not respected in world gen (yet), so yeah, male princesses/queens are not uncommon.

Two things that do exist and work, though, are the [NAME_FEMALE:a:b] and [NAME_MALE:y:z] tokens - you could take the elven princess position and add [NAME_MALE:prince:princes] and they'd have appropriate titles, no matter what gender they are.

For all their faults, elves have excellent gender equality standards.
