« on: March 29, 2012, 03:32:51 pm »

Hi people.

Im making a game about exploring dungeons. I plan to make as many things procedurally generated as i can. Give it a quick peek: http://hellward.wordpress.com/

Are you going to proceduraly generate the player's stats as well, so that one time the player has strength, dexterity and stamina as defining stats, while another time he may have dexterity, constitution, intelligence, hunger, fugacity and audacity?

I dont want to take a full RPG approach. I like diablo I atmosphere, i like finding new items and equiping them but im not a big fan of leveling a char like a junkie : P.

Spiral Knights has this interesting approach to leveling - where you level up the items you obtain, im not saying im gonna clone that but, i think this is a step toward breaking the old rpg patterns.

i would like to make this game similar to Dune I - an ancient title - a genre of it own game - where you explore the world and run sort of an RTS, but from the inside, you are are real leader, not an abstract god like power ordering units around(idea sort of revived in fable3). I would like the player to gain rewards by gaining trust of inhabitans of distinct levels/ dungeons and gain the ability to order them around, build buildings, dwelve tunnels, provide the player with new toys to dispose of enemies faster.

When it comes to character creation, i would like the player to have influence over that, i guess when something chooses your experience for you - that ruins the fun. Maybe in the future i will add some fun classes like "gravedigger" or "exorcist"
