offloading site problems
« on: March 03, 2007, 04:04:00 pm »

Ok, so far I am having nothing but problems with adventure mode. It started with offloading site would lock up when I left an area. Now when I enter a human town my backpack fills with tables, chairs, barrels of food, etc. What exactly is causing this?

Did you use an old backup after the lockup?  If you use a universe that has ever crashed or been broken out of, the file inconsistencies can lead to all sorts of bizarre behavior.

Well we're talking about 5 different worlds on 4 diffrent computers, one of which was created for adventure mode only. The last one I leveled up throwing rocks a bit. Is it that I have to create a different world until one works or are there actions to avoid? Run from DOS prompt? Use only newer computers? On all of these systems I have never had a problem with fortress mode.

The only actions I know of that can cause that level of strangeness are copying save folders on top of each other, playing after a crash, aborting the game with something like ctrl+alt+del and reloading or otherwise bypassing the standard save/load procedures (e.g. the stuff at the top of release_changes.txt).  There could be a new issue, in which case I welcome other reports.
