As in the gear they unload and offer for trade, which i think shows up on your stocks screen with an F for forbidden, which you can remove.

I think this is one tactic for confiscating things. Unforbid and dump the merchant's items from the stocks screen.

If dwarves decided to live in trees like hippies, they'd still do it better than the elves.

It's much more fun just to deconstruct the depot with them in it, honestly.

Naw. I just attack them. Well, except for the Elves. I like the elves. The dwarves and humans die although.

I generally just set up a few cages full of trapped goblins, and then release 'em en-mass to slaughter my foes! But not the Elves. NEVER the elves.

Not after that *shudder* donkey incident. Nice elves. Very nice elves, with very un-nice donkeys. Good elves, you may have 50K profits. Gooood elves. Now, go away. Bye bye, elves! Bye bye, killer donkeys.

So what? What's so bad about liking the elves? They're just like you, with few several variations.

Hate to admit it, but

Elves =  tall, attractive, no facial hair, long other hair,      eat meat.
ASCIt = tall, meh,         neckbeard,     puffy pseudo-afro, eats meat.

The parallels are rather disturbing.

Back to the original topic, you can also just select the items you want in the trade screen and seize the items. Then you don't get stuck with a bunch of willow puzzleboxes, pigtail fiber socks, and pine dildoes.

However you decide to steal from a caravan, they still remember that they arrived with X amount of value and left with Y amount. Assuming they leave, that is. I guess it's more that their civilization remembers how much they left home with and how much they returned with. Or didn't return with.

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.

Very rarly, but an armored untrained peasent can kill most elven soldiers, just watch out for bowman.

High five for neckbeards! ... :(

That incident was really what clued me in to the depth this game can offer, though that one time I made a fort of 150 dwarves suspended over a gorge and cut it all loose was pretty fun too.

.  .  .
So what happens if you have items, gems per say, that are unforbidden and have been stuck in the Trade Depot for about a year? Forbidding and unforbidding does not do anything D:< I need these shiny, shiny gems.

Another fun thing you can do is when a caravan arrives, set up a new hospital zone with a shit tonne of coffers built in it and watch as your entire fort drops what it was doing and raids the merchants en mass for every single piece of low-quality cloth they have.
