Partyless fort?

(.33a) I have just realised that my 10 year old fortress has never seen a single party. Searching gamelog.txt for 'party' confirms this. Admittedly, for more than half of that 10 years the place has been on fire or swimming with blood, but life is good right now and I'd like my little minions to enjoy it while they can.

I have a dining room set as meeting hall, two designated statue gardens and two designated zoos. Dwarves and pets will hang out there, but not throw a proper party. Anyone got any idea what's wrong here?

Wrong? a population that actualy works instead of sitting in the dining room doing nothing is actualy good.

As far as I can tell, idle dwarves are usually the ones who arrange a party.  Once the party is going anyone can go, but the initiator is usually idle (which explains why it is usually a child or useless noble that throws the party).  If you are keeping everyone busy, there may not be any idle dwarves to throw a party.  Weird that none of the kids are doing it though.

I've had a partyless fort before as well.  Had a nice fancy dining hall ready for the task but no one ever threw a party.  Before that, I did have a party-capable fort, however.
