I have a question to ask, not sure if this was asked before but I'll ask anyways.

Umm.. The question I ask is.. Does the history while playing Dwarf Fortress in Fortress mode and Adventure mode play out?
What I mean by this is; NPC's doing their own things; not just the the player history aka history of your fortress/ people in it
and your hero's history, but the NPC's for example, in hero mode you go into a town and you noticed sudden drama aka a Dragon attacking the village for example
+ including expansions of civilizations/ wars going on.

It would be awesome if this happened while your playing, would be very interesting to see this happen.

It's planned, but here yet. A small part of that will be in next release (people going to market to sell things), and more in the 'Inn' release (that's what I call it), and the military aspect of that is a little ways off into the future in terms of design goals, but not too much so.

The dev goals can be read here. The plan is to have a living world in Release 5. We are currently waiting for Release 1 (although it has a lot more in it than shown there).
