Bookeeper counts trader's goods?
« on: May 03, 2008, 05:30:00 pm »

So, while the traders where at my fortress, my bookeeper was counting their goods along with mine. They showed up in the second column of the stocks screen, along with stuff being used in buildings. Pretty sure that's not supposed to happen?

Why not?

I think they get a different colour, also, to indicate their status as not-yours.

They looked the same as stuff that's currently in use in a building, etc. I was confused by it, which is why I think it's a bug.

If you start your fortress on a map where another entity is located already, all their goods will show up on your stocks screen as well (they will all be forbidden, but they'll be there).  If the other entity is goblins (or to a lesser extant kobolds) unforbidding these items is a bad idea, at least until after you've cleared them out.

As far as the fortress value goes, it's all "imported" anyway, so doesn't add to it (with the exception possibly of walls and buildings?)

Also, items carried by invading forces behave exactly the same way (and unfortunately do NOT start off forbidden).

This isn't a bug if the items are showing up in red.  This is used to refer to all items that are inaccessible for whatever reason.  This includes, merchant items that haven't been bought, items used to construct buildings, seeds that have been planted in your farm, anything worn or carried by a thief or merchant, etc.
