first time having a king lol

Honestly, I'm not trying to put down your excitement, congrats on that. But some of the others, more regular on these forums, seem to also be encouraging you to put your save up on DFFD so that people can download your fort and play with the king. I'm curious if it's rare to them, really.

It's more that they're encouraging him/her to put the save up on DFFD instead of MediaFire, since that's what DFFD was made for.

the king or queen that arrives origonaly dosent have any preferences, so never makes any mandates.

When you get one in the second generation and onwards -born in your fort- thats when things get tricky.

I've never had a monarch come to my fort, but I've also never had a fort that lasted longer than five years. I just want to know if anything significant happens when they move in with you.

I've never had a monarch arrive before, but it may because my population cap is too low; I always set it to around 110-ish.
My forts tend to not last very longer than 5ish years or so, either.  If they're ultra successful, I move on to other pursuits.  If they are awful, they get obliterated one way or the other.
according to magmawiki you need 140 dwarves to get a king.
I've never made any roads in my forts, so I guess i'll try that and wait for the king.

Nice one, not sure when I'll be feeling like killing a baby but these things are good to know.
This is why we can't have nice things... someone will just wind up filling it with corpses.
